Asheville Tree House Builders: Built to Weather the Storm

Amazed by the enduring strength of the swimming hole features we built for Debbie on her Blue Ridge Mountain property, the repeat client called after an awful storm to pay us a very high compliment.

The story goes that, in order for Debbie's family to enjoy a wild and natural swimming hole in the forest, World Treehouse's Adam Laufer had built a swinging bridge, platform and bench secured to substantial boulders at the gorgeous spot.

"There was a crazy storm, and we had horrific flooding. That creek goes wild when we have rain like that. It's just so powerful." Debbie paused to remember the effects of strong weather on the creek and its natural pool, fed by a lusty waterfall. "I went down a few weeks after the flooding, and there were two giant logs laying on the platform that had been thrown onto it. They were full-size, twenty-four inch diameter trees! And debris was everywhere. The water had gone up over the swinging bridge, and there were sticks and branches and everything stuck in the swinging bridge."

"I had to have somebody bring a chainsaw and cut the big logs off. You might think those swinging bridges are really fragile, however..." Beaming in delight over the security of her little slice of heaven, she told the conclusion: "...once I got it all cleaned up, it was perfect. I cannot believe that that bridge and the platform bench still look brand new! It is just amazing."

Adam's wife and World Treehouses' partner, Erin, who took the call from Debbie, was thrilled with their client's accolades and responded with a smile, "Yeah, he tends to overbuild things."
