As a Luxury Treehouse Builder, Can You Incorporate Reclaimed Materials into a Treehouse?
FAQ: Can You Incorporate Reclaimed Materials into a Treehouse?
In short, absolutely.
At World Treehouses of Asheville, we warmly welcome the use of reclaimed materials in our projects. Our founder, designer and lead treehouse builder Adam Laufer loves a challenge and draws inspiration from salvaged pieces and repurposed materials. In the design process, he takes joy in weaving together old and new details to craft a special space with its own identity, but with a nod to some other romantic time or place. It’s like storytelling in the treetops with hands and tools.
The types of reclaimed things we’ve used before in our custom treehouses include antique doors and architectural windows; storied flooring; old, beautiful beams; steel from scrap yards; driftwood from the river; and special lumber from the American chestnut, a tree type no longer part of our nation’s landscape.
One of our artisan treehouses incorporates flooring from a 1700’s grist mill owned by Susan B. Anthony’s uncle. Another boasts beautiful windows and doors salvaged from different places with stories of their own. A gorgeous spiral staircase fit for treehouse dreams was made from a maple tree that threatened the strength of one of our foundation trees; its new home inside gives it new life.
Bring what you have–a sentimental trinket, a high-end piece, a salvaged historic element–and we will incorporate it into your treehouse design. There is virtually no end to what we can incorporate into your own treetop retreat to make it extra special for you and your loved ones.
