Asheville Custom Tree house Builder: The elegant and graceful curved maple staircase
“The craftsmanship is beyond what we dreamed of!”
Our client and her family are overjoyed with their handcrafted true treehouse, a Japanese-inspired structure that we call Shinrin-Yoku.
This structure is both a building and an experience of beauty, filled with stories. For example, the vertical support of the lovingly handmade staircase is a maple that grew leaning up against one of the chestnut oaks that support this treehouse. Since the maple tree had to be cut away in order for the oak to thrive and continue to grow strong, the World Treehouses team honored this beautiful tree by meticulously debarking it and then installing it as the strong column supporting the ladder to the upstairs bedroom. It is a centerpiece for the treehouse’s main floor.
The treads of the curved staircase are held in place securely and gracefully, each with its own half dove-tail and wedge. Even though the treads are floating in mid-air, our team made sure each one feels as stable as the great oak trees themselves.
This is just one example of the carefully crafted details of this treehouse structure.
