This gorgeous, weathered floor has already been crossed by many feet. These boards are reclaimed pine flooring from an old grain mill owned by Susan B Anthony’s uncle.
The two doors and the wall paneling are all made from beautiful, variegated tulip poplar wood. Tall tulip poplars, along with oaks, maples and other hardwoods, fill the Appalachian forests surrounding this entirely tree-suspended tree house.

We completed these details by creating a hand-made copper-lined sit tub for the tree house’s tiny bathroom! We studied Japanese tub design, selected the finest copper and materials, and the result is this custom tub, complete with a wooden sitting bench.

This cozy forest sanctuary treehouse is clothed in siding made from western red cedar that is stained with linseed oil and iron oxide. The leaves around it are starting to change. Due to the organic variations in color, the siding will allow the treehouse to disappear into its fall foliage backdrop, just like the “n” in the word "autumn."

When our team discovered the tree was too rotten and could not be saved, we went on a hunt for other downed trees in the forest. As you can see from our photos, our hunt was fruitful! We’re now milling multiple trees up by hand and chainsaw mill into big beams for the structure.
